Community Nursery School will celebrate its 48th Anniversary in the Spring of 2007. During these years it has earned its reputation as a program that values each child as an individual.

CNS is a non-profit, non-discriminatory school operated by a Board of Directors. It is housed in the United Methodist Church in Westport, CT. The park-like setting allows wonderful space for two separate age-appropriate playgrounds. The indoor classroom space is bright and cheerful with full windows and walk out doorways.

Warm and caring environment
A hallmark of CNS is the warmth, sensitivity and skill of the teachers who create an exciting learning environment. CNS values its teachers and our teachers guide children's learning. Teachers work in a team approach in each class. All of the teachers are college educated and continue to take classes and attend seminars. They belong to professional associations and subscribe to professional journals.

At CNS, the teachers form strong bonds with the parents to help support this most important job of child rearing.

Preparing for Kindergarten and for life
The curriculum is based on the best components of many early development principles and provides a variety of age appropriate activities.

Our school environment encourages children to discover and participate. Our goals revolve around the basic concept that for preschoolers, guided play is the major source of learning.
