Q. What is your curriculum philosophy?
Our teaching philosophy is based on the Reggio approach to education. Developed in the town of Reggio-Emilia, Italy, this method respects the innate ability of children to explore and learn from the world around them. Rather than give them answers, we guide them as they question, discover, test and exhibit ideas in their own individual ways. Our curriculum is child-centered, in that students' interests and curiosity play a critical role in our lesson planning. Teachers collaborate, and design lesson plans that focus on what children are interested in while making sure to cover all disciplines in the course of their exploration, from math to science to music, art, drama and language. We feel this approach teaches children to explore topics in great detail and better equips them to become life-long learners who enjoy the educational process.
Q. What types of programs do you offer?
Community Nursery School has many options throughout all age groups, ranging from as few as two days per week to as many as five days per week. Programs are typically structured to run two, three or five days per week, from which you may choose. Enrollment options are subject to availability for the programs that apply to your child.
Q. What about during the summer?
Community Nursery School runs a summer camp for six weeks starting the third week of June until the end of July. The camp is offered in sessions. Children may attend three or four days a week.
Q. How does Community Nursery School align with the public school curriculum?
